Linda Murphy

District 26 Map

Linda Murphy and her husband Jack, a long-time Village Trustee, raised their family in the Village of Colonie. Linda was an active member of the community serving as the President of the Auxiliary of both the Colonie Little League and the Colonie Babe Ruth. She organized the Village of Colonie’s 75th Anniversary celebration. Linda has also served as the President of the William K. Stanford Library Board.

In 2009, Linda ran for the Colonie Town Board and was elected to three terms as a member of the Town Board. She was part of the team of elected officials who eliminated the Town deficit and helped set the Town back on a proper financial path. During her twelve years on the Town Board, Linda served as board liaison to many town departments, including Senior Services, EMS, Parks and Recreation, and the Library. During her last term on the Town Board, Linda Murphy served as Deputy Town Supervisor.

Linda is a graduate of the Colonie Civilian Police Academy. She still serves as a member of the Pruyn House Historical Association Board. Linda Murphy is a small business proprietor as part of the Shear Image Salon on Sand Creek Road.

After Linda chose not to run again for Town Board, she lost her husband, Jack, of 56 years, and after a period of reflection, realized she still had more to give to the community she had been involved in her entire life. Linda is running for a County Legislative District which is largely made up of the Village of Colonie and the surrounding area.

As a County Legislator, Linda hopes to ensure district residents have easy access to County services, especially services for our older residents.
