Elect for Town Board
Julian Kovacs
Julian is a lifelong resident of Latham. Colonie has been his family’s home for generations, starting when his grandparents settled here in the 1960s in search of their American Dream. Growing up in this town has given Julian a deep appreciation for its traditions, from enjoying summer nights at Hoffman’s Playland to visiting the Crossings.
Julian’s parents instilled in me the importance of giving back, which led to his involvement in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and earning my Eagle Scout rank through a project building handicapped-accessible flower beds for a local nursing home. After graduating from North Colonie schools, Julian attended Hartwick College, where he earned degrees in Political Science and Public Health. He embraced leadership roles there, being elected as President of the All-Greek Council and Vice Chair of Student Government, while dedicating himself to community service and commitment recognized with the George F. Goodwin Sustained Service Award.
Why Julian Wants to serve on the Town Board:
New York has always been more than just home, it’s where I’ve dedicated myself to service. As a legislative researcher for the State Assembly, I’ve seen firsthand how every decision impacts our communities. My campaign experience has shown me the power of grassroots engagement and the need for unity over division. This deep connection drives my commitment to ensuring Colonie thrives as part of our shared New York story.
Colonie is evolving, with young professionals and families choosing to make this their home. I believe that the next generation deserves a voice in local government, alongside longtime residents who have built this community. As a younger candidate, I bring energy, fresh perspectives, and a deep respect for the traditions that make Colonie special. I am committed to addressing challenges like revitalizing vacant properties and ensuring responsible development while prioritizing transparency and collaboration.
I am also committed to being an active member of the opposition. Effective governance requires accountability, and I’ll work tirelessly to ensure that every decision made by the Town Board aligns with the best interests of our residents. As someone who understands the importance of collaboration, I will always advocate for open communication and constructive dialogue to move our community forward.
This town has given me so much, and I am eager to give back. If I am chosen as your candidate, I will dedicate myself fully to serving the residents of Colonie and ensuring it remains a vibrant community for generations to come.
