Alison Thorne

Alison is honored and excited to be a candidate for Colonie Town Justice. As someone who grew up in the Town of Colonie and now raises her family here, this community holds a special place in her heart. 

In her junior year at Shaker High School Alison took a class that introduced her to the law, sparking a journey that has led to nearly 20 years of legal experience. 

After graduating from SUNY Albany with a major in Criminal Justice, Alison attended the night program at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2005 and started her legal career in the prestigious position of Appellate Court Attorney at the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Third Department. 

Additionally, she worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Albany County District Attorney's office, where she handled a wide range of cases, including felonies, misdemeanors, and vehicle and traffic matters.  She was assigned to various courts across Albany County including County Court, City Court and local town and village courts. She also handled numerous appeals before the Appellate Division. Further, she was assigned to the Special Victims Bureau where she prosecuted domestic violence, criminal contempt, sexual assault and elder abuse cases.

Today, Alison serves as Acting Deputy General Counsel at the Public Employees Federation, AFL-CIO (PEF), where she protects and advocates for the rights of those in public service. PEF represents over 54,000 members statewide. 

Alison is not only a dedicated attorney but also a proud mother of two sons. She understands the importance of community and family, and she is committed to making Colonie a place where families thrive. Alison serves on the Board of the North Colonie Youth Baseball Association, where she works to create opportunities for local youth to develop and grow.

As Colonie Town Justice, Alison will bring her legal expertise, community-driven values, and dedication to fairness to every case that she hears. Alison is incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to give back to the community that has given her so much and she looks forward to serving the residents of the Town of Colonie.
